Hello everyone!

My father in law recently purchased back his first car (67 LeMans) and he isnt happy with the Dualjet that is currently on the car. He wants to switch over to a 4 barrel carb. I've read in multiple placed that the intake manifolds for Pontiac V8's are interchangeable, and I'm going to go with a Quadrajet since I have experience with them. I'm assuming we aren't going to get much of a performance boost, seeing as how it's a stock engine with a .030 overbore, but it's what he wants. Anyone have any comments/ concerns/ advice? I would appreciate it!

Ok thanks! Is there a reputable place I can pickup a Q jet from? I was looking here and they seem legitimate.

i have no experience with this company, have you purchased from them before. Many of the mass market rebuilders butcher the carburetors.

I have not, and that's what I was worried about. When I purchased my Riviera it had the wrong Carb on it so I ended up finding one online and it was pretty bad. Had to have it rebuilt.

Is the Holley in that link exactly what I would need? Vehicle fitment for that was 1968/69 according to Summit but I'm still learning with this stuff.

My main question is, does all the linkages and vacuum lines all hook up roughly in the same place with an aftermarket Carb? And will I need to find a new air cleaner? Most everything under the hood is original so I want to at least keep it looking that way.

how did you intend to install a 2 bbl air cleaner on a 4 bbl carburetor?
have you looked at the current linkage and vacuum set up?
what does the carburetor accelerator linkage look like, it uses a cable connected to the throttle?
where does the power brake booster vacuum line connect , if it has power brakes?
where does the vacuum line from the distributor connect?
where does the vacuum line from the climate control connect?
Both the Holley carb and the Edelbrock manifold have provisions for vacuum sources.

I apologize for asking about the air cleaner, wasn't thinking that one through.

I'll have to take a look at the current set up tomorrow and get the rest sorted out. I appreciate the advice!

no need to apologize, there are a lot of things to consider when going through a conversion like this and there quiet often are unexpected surprises requiring some fabrication or looking for sources of small parts.
