The battery of my 2001 Pontiac Aztek is

bad...? Lets say I opened the car to get something and the inside light goes on for 10 seconds, this will have an effect on the battery and when I want to start the car it wont start because the battery is dead.
I mean, that should be normal, opening the car for and getting something from inside, and if the inside light is on for 10-15 seconds, that should not make the battery die?
Is the battery bad? What do I need to do to fix this problem.

no..if its your original battary its likly at the end of its life that is 5 to 7 years any more is usually exceptional...take the battary and car to get it tested usually this test is done for free if they sell battarys...walmart auto for example

Jump start the car. Drive it to an Autozone store. Ask them to check your battery and alternator. I think you're gonna need a new battery.

You can get the thing started and take it to a shop they will test the charging system includinh the battery and give you the right answer but yes it sounds like the battery has a shorted cell..
