I need to replace that valve cover gasket, but this AC compressor will not move to loosen the belt so i can move it as much as needed, to get that side valve cover off.
I dont want to disconnect the AC hoses, they should flex enough to get the valve cover off the engine. I have loosened all the bolts on the compressor, and it still does not move.
My question, Does anyone here have the same compressor mounts on their 1977 6.6 ?
Does anyone have any drawings showing a tensioner or some way to loosen the belt on this compressor, please help thanks

look at how much downward force is on this bolt, why is it not going through the slot, see how loose it is?
I could see things get damaged this way when some one like me trys to take it apart and does not understand how its stuck there so tight.
So i tightened back up all the bolts for now.
Till I can find out how it works.

If you remove only the bracket that covers the valve cover, couldn't you turn remove the cover without moving the compressor?

I cant remove the brackets until i get the belt off. there is too much tension on the pulley. the way its pulling down on that bolt is not in the direction of the slot the bolts should slide through the slots. there is one bolt in the back that slides through a slot, and even tho i have loosened it, its still very hard to turn, and I think it could be from tension on the belt, the belt is still tight even after all the bolts are loose. I dont want to hurt myself by removing bolts before i get the belt tension off the pulley,
you are right the brackets need to come off, to get the valve cover off, I was going to lift the whole compressor up brackets and all. I dont know what to do, its just an oil leak.

this so funny. I just watched that video, and I came here to tell you your right, some how he got those brackets off without moving the compressor. Maybe i should not loosen all the bolts, just the top bracket bolts?
I have never seen any engine like this. only chevys
Thank you so much for your time, have a nice ride.
