Throttle linkage

installed a new 4 barrel quadrajet. Installed the linkage bracket and the rod does not connect. Should the rod attach to the pin on the bracket

Not sure how the rod attached to the old carb. The bracket on the carb you have is what I've seen used with later model Pontiacs that utilize a cable instead of a rod for linkage. My 70 GTO is a good example. There would be an "eye" on the end of the cable that would attach to the stud shown at the top of the lever. Here's a picture of it installed on mine.

Wrong carburetor or linkage.
Do you have the 1969 shop manual?

Car had a 2 barrel on it from factory but previous owner had a holly spread bore carb that he was going to install. The linkage did hook up to that carb correctly but I decided to ditch the Holley and install the quadrajet

Can you remove the mounting stud from the Holley and install it on the Quadrajet?

think I might just look for a different stud for the end of the rod. One with a home that I can slip over the stud on the bracket and secure with a cotter pin

I would drill a hole through the end of the rod and flatten it on a grinding wheel then over the carb stud with a skinny washer and cotter pin
