Wife drives a 2006 Sunfire. Out of the blue it starts with this loud ticking sound that seems to come from behind the glovebox. When it first started she said it would happen when she started it and then went away after a few minutes. Now it's continues. Any ideas to what it might be? Almost sounds like a selinoid clicking on and off.

did you check the owners manual to see where the passenger compartment fuse box is located? Quite often it is in the area of the glove box and if you remove the cover you may determine which relay is making the noise.

Thanks. It's dark now so I'll try it tommorow. I'm wondering what it would be though as nothing seems to be affected.

Okay, here's an update on the problem. It's now constant and sounds kinda like a fan blade hitting on something. If you turn the fan off it still makes the noise. When you change the fan speed the noise stays constant so it's ' not ' the heater fan. Now if you change the air flow to recirculate, the noise stops and the green light next to the air conditioner button lights up. Any guesses?
