Torrent headlamps won't go off

I have an '08 Torrent. The spring-loaded multi-switch on the column defaults to "auto". At night, whether the lights are switched on, or, are on automatic, nothing happens when I turn the switch to "off". I used to be able to turn them off this way. Every other function on the multi-function switch seems to work fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The switch may have failed. The other possibility is the BCM, body control module. A BCM scanner would be required to check it.

Would a GM dealer be able to identify if the BCM was the issue? Is it a reprogramming fix?

yes they could and it may require replacement. A quailfied independant shop may be a less expensive alternative.

Thank you. I may replace the switch myself. It's not a critical issue, so, I'll only be out the cost of the switch, and, my time if the problem is in the BCM. I'm thinking a scan will be more expensive than the switch, based on the prices I see.
