Some may have considered this in the past. The Slim Jim trans in my 62 Cat has finally given up the ghost. What might be a suitable replacement. I know the swap is complicated in that, I think, the starter mounting is integral to the bell housing (or is it the other way around)? Thank you.

You cannt find anybody local to rebuild it?

I used an adaptor to mount the starter when I swapped out a TH400 in my 63 Catalina 30+ years ago, Butler performance still offers the style I used.

Its kinda $$$ but it worked well on my car for the 5+ years I owned it. I don't know if anyone else sells anouther version. I seem to remember I bought a transdapt version that was only around $50. but keep in mind that was in they 1990's or what my Gen Z daughter now calls the late 1990's.

It will allow you to use what ever more modern transmission you prefer, be it a TH250, TH400, or one of the OD options.
Good luck and please tell use how you work it out. FYI I had the later 1965+ style starter & flexplate laying around, but I think they are also needed to use this part. If you need one I do have extra 65+ flex plates you could have one for the cost of shipping it to you.

Thank you very much for the response! Now I can move ahead with this project after two years.
