Transmission fluid change

['03 Grand-Am GT]

Hey guys, got an '03 G-A GT with 90 000 mi and my guess is that the automatic transmission fluid and filter have never been changed. With that kind of mileage, should I still take the risk of changing it or is it too late and should just leave it in and make sure the level is correct? It's running perfect right now, never noticed any leaks but never took the time to check the color to see if the fluid is really deteriated. It's never been hard driven nor pulling any trailers. Maybe you can shed me some light on this subject.
