transmission for a '87 firebird?

I have an 87 firebird with a 305 v8 and a 4 barrel. I would like to know the potential cost of getting a new automatic transmission in it. i'd prefer a new one, because i'd like to only travel this road once. if possible id like to know the price for a 4-speed, 5-speed, if possible, 6-speed, and labor.

If you have a auto trans now I would suggest staying with an auto.. the cost of a rebuild veries you probably will not find a "New" transmission for it also labor rates will very depending on what shop rate is in your area ..
there are NO set pricing rates for that type of repair that would apply in every case ..
check with local trans shops...
