I have a 1985 fiero gt notch back with the 4 speed manual and I was wondering c if a 5 speed manual from a 1993 toyota corolla would be able to fit or be used in my fiero,if not what ones would be able to be used.

So if I bought a 1990 sunbird with a 5 speed manual transmission then that would work with my fiero.

Help, 4 speed to 5 speed conversion

OK, this is gonna be kinda long, so bare with me. Im looking at getting the fourspeed from (fastback87) in the mall. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how hard it would be to convert the 4spd to a 5spd. Im planning on doing an engine and tranny conversion. so i dont need a working tranny...

Ok I found a 1987 chevy cavalier with a 5 speed is that the one to use for my 85 fiero gt notchback.
 
You are going to have to research the details, I have not done a conversion.
You have to Google "how to convert fiero 4 speed to 5 speed transmission" and read the links.

So aside from figuring out that this is the transmission that was also used in the fieros.
 
Best to find a wrecked car, no 5 speed transmissions listed on www.car-part.com currently , only 2.5 ones which cant handle the torque....of a V6.

A bunch on www.row52.com, some have 86-88 V6's listed but no trans are listed, going to call each one to what trans it has...good luck. You can hire a partspuller person to pull the parts you need and ship them to you, details on the site....

Could a 4 speed transmission be rebuilt into a 5 speed transmission.
