Transmission or transfer case? Or something else?

My 06 torrent has issue somewhere along the line of transfer case or transmission...I'm not sure. When in drive it has loud whining or humming sound. It drives fine right now but I have it parked cause I love my car. When it is jacked up and in gear the noise comes..in neutral the noise doesn't change. As long as the tires are moving the noise is there. But as long as it in gear and brakes are on no noise. Replaced intermediate shaft has been replaced with the axle that was brought out. I was really hoping someone might know more about cars than me...I want to fix it so I can drive it again...secretly hoping it isnt the transmission failing. Also doesnt seem to have any trouble shifting gears. Anyone have any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did you check the transmission fluid level and to see if it smells burnt?
You are sure the noise isn't from a wheel bearing?
Pretty hard to tell you where a noise is coming from over the internet, have you tried taking it to a mechanic?

I had the same issue. It turned out to be my heatshield for the exhaust. Humming at 80kmh. It was loose the bolt came out. Sounded like the noise was coming from right under the gear shifter
