My parents' van has a leak from the rear main seal and from the transmission cover on the driver's side, and I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile to pull the transmission out and fix it. It's got 145k miles. I'm a mechanic and I've pulled a few transmissions before, so I'm just looking for tips/suggestions on pulling the transmission on this particular model (Haynes and Chilton apparently don't make a manual for this van). It looks as if that whole frame under the engine and transmission would have to be removed?

and Hanes has it covering up to 2005 which should be good for your project
