Transmission swap question (Formula Firebird)

Not sure if this has ever been done before, or if it's even possible, but here's an idea I've had on my mind for awhile. I have a 1995 Formula Firebird, fitted with the LT1 350 V8 and paired with the 6-speed manual. Now for awhile I've thought of a manual-to-automatic conversion, but never really felt the need, as driving manual is fun, and the only transmission that would be guaranteed to fit is the GM 4-speed automatic slush box from that era. Now I'm just brainstorming ideas because it's fun to at least think about. You know the new (or at least was new a couple years ago) ZF 8-speed auto now famous for going in the Hellcat Dodges? Got a couple questions about that because I'm now curious:
1) would that even fit in my Firebird?
2) would it even be compatible with the LT1, maybe after a couple fitment tweaks here and there?
3) could I throw a Hurst shifter on there? Hehe

Thanks for reading, you're excellent.

1. Below is a link showing the critical dimensions of the transmissions that will fit your car. Find the dimensions of the ZF and compare them.
2. You would need a custom made adapter assuming it passes the first test above.
3. Only if Hurst makes one for the transmission and the mounting point of the shifter is close to the factory location in the floor pan.
