Speedin' Sam

I have instantly lost 2nd gear!
Does anybody know why or how this can happen?
If so, what do I need to do to fix it?

An auto I assume? Check the shift linkage, 30 dollar part, does it grind, or make any sounds, or just go into 3rd? Does it even do that?

Just revs when starting to about 3000 rpm's and then you let off of the gas and it will slide into 3rd. If you pull it back into second manually, it just revs like it is in neutral. If it is really cold you can feel it try to generate forward motion but not under much throttle. Give it gas hard at 50 and it drops into 2nd and revs out.

You might have somehow blown 2nd. I dont know your driving habits, but continuous hard driving will do that,it is not the shift linkage going by what youve described, Sounds like there is no teeth left on sencond gear, it may have not been set up properly, and it was gradually wearing down the gear as you drove, second is a gear you dont use much, so it took a while for that to happen. first third and overdrive are most common, If Im right, You may want to get all the gears checked, as they may be wearing down slowly as well, then soon youll have no drive left,
