Tricky oil change

I want to just replace my oil filter- long story. but if I remove my oil filter which is above the oil pan, should i lose much oil other than that which normally oozed out with the unscrewing of the filter? Oil pan is much lower, right? 1987 sunbird GT.

Only what is in filter and filter base.

Wow, good to know! I will be careful when unscrewing the filter, with the usual "ooze" of oil, then replace with e new filter. The oil is still good/almost new, but the filter is old. Thanks, people.
