Trunk release - key fob

The trunk release using the key fob for my 2006 solstice doesn’t work very well/consistently. I have changed the battery in the fob without any effect on performance. Is there a battery somewhere inside the trunk mechanism? Has anyone dealt with this problem successfully? If so, please share what you did. Thanks from Orlando.

Either the latch solenoid or the receiver has an issue.

It is probably the fob, if they get dropped a few times the solder on the battery connection cracks and the contact to the battery becomes intermittent or broken entirely. Common issue, I had to resolder both of my fobs shortly after purchasing the car in 2016. One is doing it again as of this fall.
