...Sunfire? Have a 2000 Pont. Sunfire 98,000 miles. Is it true that 100,000 miles is the time for a tune up? Where can I find the right spark plugs for this specfic car with the lowest prices? My mechanic says he'll charge $65 for an hour of labor on this or I could pay $120 for a warranty (which rarely is necessart in this case since spark plugs usually don't break apart) and the best quality/non-generic brand of plugs.

So where, can I get the right/best spark plugs for the lowest price and do you know of any major brand mechanics that can do it for less? Maybe I should try to see if one of my acquaintances can do it for cheaper?

Do the internet guides have good and easy instructions for anyone to do this themselves without creating more damage?
I know you have to change the plugs about ever 30,000 miles I've heard, right? My mechanic says he'll charge $120 for the whole package which include buying the parts. I found a set of 4 NKG Platinum plugs for $15 on a website, that might save me a lot. The tools, I may not have all of them and don't know if it's worth buying them all for doing my own tune up. Maybe I should go to an old friend and see if he'll let me borrow some from his garage or do a whole tune up for cheaper?

do it yourself go to the library and look it up it should only take 30 minutes

Spark plugs are too easy to pay someone to do them for you. Ask around...All you need is a spark plug socket and a set of plugs. You can get any kind of plugs, just tell the parts store guy the make and model. They should not be very expensive and you only need 4.

Your tume up does not consist of much.Spark plugs are about $7.50 each and that would be A/C Delco.P.C.V.(positive crankcase valve) Air filter-Fuel filter,And then cleaning of the thottle body and intake. All for $65.00 labor=great !,Anything less your not getting a good tune up/or your moneys worth.

Yeah it's time for plugs, wires, oil, oil filter, air filter, radiator flush, transmision fiter + fluid,if it's a standerd trany, time to replace gear oil, check the front end for loose parts, change the PCV valve, located on tne valve cover, soot you can pick it all up at wal mart, ecept plugs and wires. It's a few hr job to do it your self and save a small fortune.I use Castrol GTX in all my cars,in winter where i live it's cold so winter 10w30,summer 10w40.
