Turbo Fieros?

This wouldn't be stock, right? What type of turbo did people put on the 2.8s?

the ones Ive seeen used the most come off the 85-86 thunderbird turbocoupe with a 5-speed. this is a garret T-3 that is water cooled.

Wow. Very interesting.. I never knew that was something people did. The only thing missing from the Fiero was performance. They weren't slow but they weren't as fast as they looked..

Turbo Fieros

You can spot several turbo fieros on Pennock's Fiero Forum at www.fiero.nl

There was at least one turbo 2.5 4 cylinder on there but I believe it is no longer exists.

There are several 2.8 v6's with turbos out there, most of them use the old Miller-Woods turbo kit. I don't know if the kit is still available or not.

There's a couple turbo 3.8 v6's out there that run approximate 12 sec 1/4 mile times.

There's a guy that built a really sweet turbo 4.9 PFI Cadillac but has since pulled it back out, sold it and built a turbo 4.6 Northstar.

There was also a turbo LS-1 powered Fiero in progress but I don't know if it ever came together.

Also there's a turbo Ecotec Fiero in the works on Pennock's, I haven't seen any recent updates on that project though.

Hope this helps.

Gotta check but I think there's an article in the latest High Performance Pontiac about this very topic. Shold be available at your local magazine vendor.

I checked, there is an article about a supercharged V-8 in an '87 GT Fiero. Waaay too much work for someone of my limited talent to be able to do, but the guy that owns and built it did that stuff for a living. Good article, plenty of pictures and nicely written.

I was reading about a 455-powered '88 GT...

It was a gorgeous car, something like a 11-second quarter, still the mid-rear configuration, handled like a scaled-up go-kart, the whole kit-n-caboodle.

a new book about Turbocharged Fieros

You might be interested in the new book, "High Performance Fieros", which includes details about how to install a turbocharger into a Fiero, including VE tables and spark advance tables. Also describes in detail engine upgrades, including a 3.4L V6 swap, turbocharging, installing a 5.7L LS1 V8 engine, and adding nitrous oxide injection. Topics include eliminating spark knock, calculating horsepower, selecting turbocharger, CE (Compressor Efficiency), MAP sensors, fuel injectors, upgrading fuel system, custom headers, improving airflow, VE (Volumetric Efficiency), and many, many others. Written by an engineer. Includes detailed wiring diagrams, graphs, tables, weights, formulas, dyno test results, and plenty of photographs. A "How-To" style book. 97 pages. It is currently available on ebay.
