ok, so my 2001 grand am with 2.4L spun a few rod bearings. I had it up in the air taking the thing apart, then i got to the oil pump timing gear; that's when things got ugly... Ok first off I wasn't sure what way the bolt turned off so I went a tiny bit in either direction to see, well bad news. It twisted right off inside the main oil gear shaft. unsure as what to do at this point. so my questions is..
does it matter if the two shafts that are in the oil "something" housing are in position, or can they be unmarried and be put however back? is that deal that's attached to the oil pump in time with the engine? if it doesn't matter i can split the two and get the shaft machined and back rolling tomorrow. needing some encouragement...
