Hello everybody,
I just bought this baby 1991 Grand Am one owner, 95 000 miles on it.
I'm preparing this car for hobby and I found a vacuum hose opened at the driver side front of the vehicle near to the battery and I don't know where this hose is connected. I put a cap on it for now but I would like to know where to install this end of the hose. There's vacuum on it.

Taking a shot from the hip and with no other information (i.e. I'm playing darts with a blind fold) purge canister. For a more accurate guess, how about and engine and maybe the size of the hose.

Sorry, it is a 4 cyl 2.5L . The purge canister is on the other side (passenger side) near to the head light. Size of the hose is 7/8.

Only hoses I can think of that are that big are power brakes, pcv, and transmission.

My mistake again:o The correct size of the hose is 1/8.
I was working in the transmission cooler hose and as you stated very well that one is the 7/8 one.
Here are some pictures. The end of the house is located near to the battery. Left front side. I found it below the battery, near to the head light.
I replaced the spark plug wires today (very difficult to reach the distributor to install the new wires) but still engine has some problem, I think due to a vacuum leak.

It looks like it goes to the air intake, maybe on the bottom? Can you trace it to where it goes?

Here are some pictures of the #1 hose's path. Thanks for your help!;)

Any help? Engine is still running rough...

I wish I could help, but can't really tell much from those pics except hose #2 and #5 need to be replaced since they are starting to show signs of cracking/rotting.

Finally I visited today a junk yard and found a similar car. Hose goes to the Vacuum Reservoir but in my car was removed. I will buy a new one tomorrow and install the hose. Thanks for all your help;)
