I recently purchased a 71 Ventura that is is very good condition with the exception of the lower front fenders. Am looking for patch panels or complete fenders. Anyone know where I might find such an animal? Also, the motor is a Pontiac 400. I do know this model and year did not come with this engine. The motor seems to be sitting off a little. Looks like the motor mount is broken. Will the original motor mounts fit the 400? Or am I going to have to fabricate? Thanks. My first Pontiac project.....

welcome to the site. I am new myself. And I have a question. As with the firebird and Camaro, do the Ventura and Nova share the same sub frames. My 76 Firebird already had the bolt holes drilled for the mounting of a sbc. So I am wondering if a Novas subframe is the same as the one on a VEntura. Thus, the bolt holes for a Pontiac motor may also be factory. Also, what about nova fenders verses ventura fenders. I know for Firebirds and Camaros, the fenders are not interchangable. The 3 GM brands share so muchf it is hard to say.

Nova and Ventura share the same subframe but I doubt they have the same fender.

oldsmobile and pontiac will interchange fenders, chevy will only if you change the whole front to look like a nova.

omega, ventura, apollo have the same fenders.

subframes same as nova, i cant remember for sure but i think the camaro is also the same.

Yes, the motor does check out to be a 400. The problem is, someone did change the mounts but the oil pan is sitting on the crossmember and the passenger side header is also rubbing in the frame. The motor is sitting toward the passenger side and appears to be leaning. I am sure I can fabricate a mount. Franks does not even know about the VEntura as I have spoken with them. I guess the old junk yards are on the list next. Thanks..

Someone on this site must know of a 72 Ventura with a 350 Pontiac motor. Just need to see a picture of the mounts. Thanks..

The mounts cost $18 in the www.amesperf.com catalog for GTO , use the 72 to 74 X body mount.

I did call Ames and we ended up using the 67 to 69 Firebird frame stands. someone did not place the extra motor stand supports on the underside and the stands ar actually bent from weight/torque of the motor. Thanks for the heads up.

glad you solved it
