Hey, I have a 96 Sunfire GT. I recently bought a 97 Grand Prix GTP so I don't really drive the Sunfire much anymore, but I went to move it the other day and there was a puddle of water on the floor in front of the the drivers side seat. Today I went to clean up the water and decided to pull out the carpet to see how bad the problem was. After pulling up the carpet, there was still a puddle in front of the seat and also in the little cavity behind the drivers side seat. I have no clue where the water is coming from, no cracks in the windshield, the door seams to close tightly, and there are no water marks on any of the panels inside showing signs of water coming in from the door or anything and just running down to the carpet. I'm going to leave the carpet out for a few days to see if water keeps on building up in the same spots. Does anybody have any ideas of where the water could be coming from or any tricks to find out where it's coming from. I'd appreaciate any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Is it water or antifreeze? Do you have a moon roof? Could be weatherstripping if water or heater core if antifreeze. Good luck.

weatherstripping

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have a 98 Sunfire convertible and I have the same problem but mine is on the passenger side (back) and the floor gets soaked everytime it rains....and the trunk.

If it was weatherproofing did you find out where to find the weatherstrip? I'm having a terrible time finding it.

I'd appreciate hearing if you have a minute.

Good luck fixing yours.

This is caused by too much rain at once... or a car wash... Our 98 Grand Prix does this and it coming in from the cowling under the windshield wipers, especially if the diverter plastic has been moved. I replace ours and it has reduced significantly but when we had 8 inches of rain in 4 hours it still leaked... BUt car washed and minor rain has not leaked.
