I am just trying to get a grasp on what I'm getting myself into once I get my car.

What are the common faults and resolutions found with these cars?

The most common things are failed LIM UIM gaskets if you ever have an overheating problem. If the gaskets have been replaced with the updated ones that are all metal instead of plastic, they are more forgiving. Another high failure item seems to be wheel hub bearings, and bad wiring harness issues (broken connections)with the wheel speed sensors which will throw codes for ABS and ETC systems.

ETA: The GA is a pretty good car if you treat it right and keep up with regular maintenance. GA's are fun to drive, and I would recommend these cars without hesitation to my friends.

Thanks for the info. I was reading something about the body control module causing the trac lights and such to come on. Apparently the previous owner had driven it in an intense rain which started the issue with those lights coming on.

I don't foresee an overheating issue as the car has 98k on the clock which I like.

Are parts availability ever an issue?

Edit: on the BCM, I also read that moisture can get in the right kick panel where the BCM is, thus causing it to fail.. Has anybody figured out a way to prevent moisture from getting in there to eliminate further problems with it?

Moisture coming into the passenger side is usually a failure in the sealing foam for the HVAC fresh air intake in the cowl area, and can be replaced. If this is ever your problem, you usually notice wetness on the passenger floorboard. Most times if this happens, you can disconnect the BCM harness and clean all connections after drying it out with a hair dryer, and it will work fine again.
