I'm not a car person, but I've been looking recently for a new "used" car hehe
I might be traveling two-three times from Detroit to Chicago and I need a decent car. I am also looking for a car that's better on gas. I've only ever drove mini vans and Fords. I have owned a T-Bird.

What are you opinions on the grand am? I have noticed that there are TONS of them around where I live.. I would like to get a late 90s early 2000 4 door. probably a 6 cylinder..

Is it good in snow? I will most likely be moving to Chicago in the next year. I know a lot of the running well and gas depends on the maintenance of the vehicle, but overall is it a decent car?

Thank You

well not to brag but i got a ticket for peeling out of a parking lot by an unmarked office at starbuck. yeah!

the cars so cheap to maintain i've had it for 2 years 2001 4 door, and spent about $300 bucks total, for oil and a replaced tire and other odds and ends
the car like the other guy said, handles pretty nicely for the snow and is front wheel drive, and theres a button on the dash if you want to disable the traction enhancement
i'm getting a G8 GXP when i get outta college

Over all they are average cars..the 4 cyl has a head gasket problem..caused by long term use of the orange GM coolant..but like u said there are a ton of them around..Always a good barometer of a used older car..how many do u see on the street.. and its nothing to see several 10 year old Grand Ams in a day

Okay, I own a 02 Grand AM GT and I have to say it's a nice little coupe. It's a fun ride and looks good, IMO. They are very affordable, but don't go getting ripped off either. Check KBB values and request a carfax. If any dealer anywhere in the WORLD refuses to give you one, they are hiding shit. So do yourself that popular favor. Anyways, the V6 3400 version of the newer grand ams are known for electrical problems, cv joint problems, strut wear, window tracks, and don't keep tire tread for more than a couple years if it's a daily driver. I've had problems with all of the things I just listed but I'm still in love with it. It's up to you, you might get lucky and find one that doesn't want to break on you a lot.

these cars are great cars very dependable. my wife and i acually just bought one last year and it snowed like crazy here in kentucky and it pulled through the snow like it was nothing and it handled very well also. ours is a 1997 grand am and it is a wonderful car very good choice for a used car.
