If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... My Dad and I recently bought out a bunch of old Pontiac items at an auction (50's through 70's). I keep running into "P8" on boxes and tags on these items. What does the P8 mean? Is that a short hand form of the word Pontiac? Is it a certain model of Pontiac? Does it stand for V-8 Pontiac?

Any answer is greatly appreciated.

I was going through some of the fender skirts we got, and there's a 1978 P8 written on the inside of them.

Models

The Pontiac "P8" was only built in 1939, the number seemed to stretch across all body types - Business Coupe, Sedan, Coupe, Station Wagon and Convertible ...
I know that doesn't really answer your question, but just a little info
