What is the difference between intake manifold gasket and a blown cylinder head

They are different gaskets that separate different components.

The head gasket sits between the block and the cylinder head. The intake manifold gasket sits between the cylinder head and the intake manifold (specifically the lower). There is also a gasket between the lower intake manifold and the upper intake manifold, which is also considered the intake manifold gasket, but this is not the gasket that people are usually referring to with the Grand Am's since the lower gasket is usually the one that will give you trouble.
