What is this part?

I discovered this loose line wiggling in the engine compartment and found part of the plastic tubing had melted. Any idea what this line connects to or what it is? Thanks.

UPDATE: After online research I believe this to be the vacuum canister line, but if it were to be disconnected would it cause the engine to shut off?

I would think ur check engine light would be on ? Could be an easy fix put some vacuum line tubing over the melted part for a splice.
