what size of socket is needed to remove the spark plugs on a 1997 sunfire?

the car is over revving on occasion when accelerating, once over 2.5 rpms it goes away and seems to drives fine, this does not happen all the time so trying to figure out what could be the cause and seen some other posts here with check engine light and eratic revving due to bad plugs or wires so hopefully this is the same

Do you have an automatic or manual transmission. If it's a automatic and it's over reving the transmission is slipping, try servicing the fluid and filter. If it's a manual your clutch is slipping.

For my 1996, it was 5/8. Probably the same for yours.
