If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hello everyone : I'm anticipating buying a 1984 Trans Am. I'm looking at pictures of it online. I found the '84's are available with 2 V8 engine options....305 carbureted and 350 injected. I don't know if the injection is throttle body or tuned port. The dealer doesn't seem to know what engine it has. My question is: can I tell by looking at the pics of the engine, which one it is ? I see what appears to be an air cleaner that has a hole on it's top right with a rubber gasket around it to supposedly get air from the 'off-side' hood scoop. Does that indiate whether it's the carbureted or throttle body injection (if available) ? Thanks !!

305 carb motor pic

Only 2 1984 305 options : base 150 hp, H.O. 190hp ( both were carb motors)

350 was not available

look at the 8th character in the VIN, should be the letter G for the 190 HP engine.

Also if it's a 190 hp H.O., it will have a decal on the top and side of the hood scoop.
