Hey all, I just joined as I recently picked up a 2000 GTP for 750$ to use as a work commuter. I had to put a battery in it when I picked it up but other than that it hasn't given me any trouble in the 2000 miles I've put on it.
I decided to try to tackle the drivers side rear wheel bearing today as it has been making noise since I got the car. I've done plenty of these hub assembly replacements before including one on the front of a 2000 GT that I had a few years back, but this one is absolutely stumping me. I've got the brake caliper and rotor off and the four bolts that hold the hub on are removed, I disconnected the ABS sensor as well, but the hub assembly is froze on there. I've tried beating it, using a wedge and hammer where they meet up, as well as using a slide hammer. I can't get this thing to even budge. I decided I'd had enough for today and put it back together as my apartment complex doesn't like people working on their cars at all. I plan on taking another crack at it tomorrow, any advice or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

try penetrating oil for 24 hours or take it somewhere that can use heat to break it loose.

When I gave up yesterday I made sure to soak it good with PB Blaster. Today I took it back apart and tried again. Still no luck with the slide hammer, I tried leaving the hub bolts out and bolting the wheel back on and kicking it good a few times as well, while it didn't work it at least gave me a chance to get some frustration out. I even went as far is leaving the hub bolts in but loose and putting everything else back together and driving it around the block. Yeah I know that's just asking for something to break, but still that had no effect either.

I found this video online and after a quick google it looks like they cost about 100$. That's a little more than I want to spend so I think I'll try to make one myself. Just gotta find the time.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated, Thanks.

buy the tool and resell it on ebay.
