I found out “some” 17” equinox rims will not fit on a 2007 torrent. Seems the gap from the inside edge of spokes rubs on the brake caliper mounting bracket. Who knew? The gap on the torrent rims is 1/2” at least. I could lightly grind the bracket to make it work. Anyone who swaps wheels knows the grinder can fix minor issues. Ha.

I guess depending on the situation a thin wheel spacer might also work.

Found some nice 07 wheels at junkyard but lugnuts are messed up. They have the chrome caps. Folks say to use 19mm or 19.5mm sockets when you have swollen lugnuts. Well, they are .750” and 19mm is .741” which means it won’t work on NEW nuts. Right? I figure the 19.5 socket is hard to find? I know I can find a 20mm socket at many stores and 20mm is .780”. Which may work as well as 19.5? 19.5= .760”.

After reading horror stories on ford chrome capped nuts I thought my torrent would be bad too. I got a 20mm socket and had to lightly tap it onto the nuts and they came off fine. Got my rims/tires for $57. They had a 30% of sale this weekend. I do not think a 19.5 mm socket would have worked. Maybe so. It’s only .020” difference
they charge $15 core if you buy alum wheels vs steel wheels. I got a set of free Honda pax wheels and used them as cores. They weigh 70lbs each. Dang.

My 3/4” socket fits on my lugnuts. I had the problem at the junkyard. I bought a 20mm socket so I’m probably good for the short term at home. You can remove the chrome cladding from the nuts if you feel industrious, on 20 nuts? Meh. I tried 20mm socket on my wheels At home. Sloppy. I need a 19.5.
