Where can I find shift cables for a 1995 sunfire GT 2.3 liter 5 speed manual?

I called around today with the few numbers I had and nothing. I also got emailed back from those foreign websites and they no longer had it in stock. I got a message from the one in Canada at thunder bay that has the part listed, but somehow they couldn't locate the part and misplaced it... and if they find it, they'll contact me. I'm going to keep on them about it though. Every warehouse I called in america says this part is completely non-existent and it doesn't exist at any vendor or warehouse in the country. I've google searched 95 sunfire junk cars, found a few, and they no longer had the car when they emailed me back.

There's 2 different part numbers for the 96+. One is 22650716 and the other is 22650715. I've seen a few websites state that the 22650716 is for the MJ1 tranmission, and the 22650715 is for the MK7.
 
The cables look identical to my to mine. I just wonder if they vary in length.
 
^good point. I have the MJ1 transmission... hmm... from the photos I've seen of the 22650716 (which is num 6) it looks identical to my cable and it has the rubber covering the rubber underneath on that one end... the 22650715 that is supposed to be for the MK7 transmission doesn't have that on the end. I doubt the dealers have even seen this... they probably just go by part number, punched mine in, seen no alternate number, and said they don't know... maybe if I give them this part number, maybe they'll see it?

I shall email this website and ask about it. I got about 40+ emails today all saying they didn't have my part. I got an email from findapart.com saying they had my part in stock, only to email them back and have them tell me "oh i thought you needed an actual transmission" when i clearly stated what i was looking for... don't they ever read? i even asked the guy if he could help me locate the part because that's what his site says they do, and he said that i'd have to pay him 50 dollars for his services just to be profitable. Only possible luck is the guy at Thunder Bay emailed me and said that he couldn't locate the part because it was misplaced and said that if he finds it, I'll be the first to get contacted.... lol... i have 1 number to call tomorrow as they got a 1995 cavalier 5 speed car... just got it in the 13th... and i hope its a parts car... it's at a salvage yard in florida.

I went to a local GM dealer's parts website, put in my year, make, model, and pulled up the SAME diagram from 11/1994 as that website. Right next to that diagram is the transmission parts for sale for it and it has the shifter cables listed as for sale for the MJ1 transmission. It doesn't give the part number but I'm assuming it's the 22650716 part number.

^the dude at thunder bay just sent me a message and he FOUND the part. The same part number as mine, and it came out of a 95 sunfire 2.3 liter. Only thing is it's used and with shipping, he wants $138 which is the same cost as a new cable lol. He said he'll hold it for me for as long as it takes for me to get the money and decide. He also sent me pictures. The vehicle it came out of had 69,xxx miles on it he says.

I'm waiting for emails from the dealer's about the part number for the 22650716 fitting my car lol. If not, or they say they aren't sure, I'll just buy this used one because then I'll know it'll fit and because it's non-existent. The mileage isn't so bad and the cable looks to be in decent condition. The car will probably die before the shifter cable goes bad again... 179,xxx miles on it already lol. The production manager at pioneer auto said they're going to put my cable into production in the near future.... he said in about 60-90 days lol. I cant wait that long though.
 
I placed my order for the part. Now all I need to do is decide whether to pay for it or not. When I ordered it, it removed it from listing so no other can buy it :D Now it's just awaiting payment and I have 13 days before it expires.... thunder bay said he'll hold it for that long :D
 
All the GM dealers in my area said the part wouldn't fit my car... I called today. I even got a call back from Pontiac from customer service and she said that it's not compatible lol.

So I said f it, and bought the used part tonight on that website for 138 bucks. I don't really care I just need my car back asap.

Got them in the mail today. Called up a backyard mechanic lastnight. He came over today and got them in in 1 hour 20 minutes and paid him only 60 bucks. Dude was really good and fast. We spotted the coolant temp sensor was broken and theres oil leaking somewhere around the same area along with the coolant outlet housing leaking/cracked. Aint that something lol... so he's coming over tomorrow to change my fuel filter and replace the housing along with the coolant temp sensor and he's charging me 40 bucks to do it all.
 
Thing shifts way smooth now. I barely have to touch the shifter to put it in gears. Before I had to grab it hard to move it... now it slide slides through gears like butter. The used cable was in excellent condition and looked almost brand new. It included the clips on it and and the bushings almost brand new as well.

Well, got the outlet housing on. The old one wasn't cracked but I seen the o-ring had a dip in it so maybe that's where the leak came from. I also replaced the oil pressure switch because it was seeping oil right out of the plastic housing where the harness connects. So now tomorrow I'll hopefully bleed it and check for leaks. It got too late to finish that part :D
