My turn signals are not working and I've checked just about everything except this turn signal flasher because I cant find it. It's labeled "DIRECTIONAL FLASHER" on the tempest chassis electrical wiring diagram and is distinct from the hazard flasher, which I found. The hazard flasher in the fuse box is confirmed working, and the back and front lights are working (can turn them on by connecting their respective wires on the harness directly the the positive lead of the battery), but I can't find the directional flasher to diagnose it. The steering column is functioning normally continuity-wise (tested independently while moving the turn signal switch between positions. purple wire from directional flasher connects with one of the light blue and dark blue wires that go out to the directional lights and dash board indicator lights when signaling, as is expected). How exactly does this directional flasher unit work? I'm thinking it holds the purple wire high and brings itself low after it heats up from current flow then high again when it cools to cause the flashing.
