My 99 Sunfire recently began making a whining noise when I start driving. It sounds fine at idle, then I shift into drive and put my foot on the accelerator and I start hearing it. The noise stops at about 50 MPH. It is also making a loud screeching sound when I first start it in cold weather. That goes away as the car warms up.
I am thinking the first issue is a transmission problem...it shifts fine and doesn't slip or anything. I haven't seen any leaks. So any ideas what would cause this noise? The fluid was recently flushed.
Thanks!
