Why do they make replacing the battery so hard?

I had to replace the battery in my moms van, why did GM design the van that way? Had to unbolt the fuse panel and that bar just to get to the battery? PIA, luckily my Craftsman Impact Driver and impact sockets made it an easy job.

I hear ya , just think about the regular maintenance items that are hard to do ,air filter, spark plugs(back 3),battery ect... I think they should make the design engineers do all that stuff. Probably GM wants to serve the dealerships .

They weren't designed with maintenance in mind. they were designed to assemble a certain way on the assembly line.

Been a while since I been on here. I have moved out of my moms apartment and don't go home much. Anyway, after I replaced the battery, the van flat out died. Turns out, I didn't get the cables tight enough. At least the chances of me having to replace that battery again are slim.
