Why is the Security Light lit up on the cluster of my 1998 Firebird?

Probably has an issue with the passlock (key or sensor) for the security system, if it is not giving you problems yet it probably will soon, you will need to have the system checked over by someone who is trained in the passlock system diagnostics ..
It might be something as simple as a new key is needed (if it is warn) or it could be the cylinder it self which it would need to be replaced by a service tech..
