Looking to build a 70-72 T/A clone. Found a 74 roller at a good price. Wondering if the nosejob will work fairly easily? TIA!

well darn. i guess i just figured they'd be generally available (repros anyway).

I had a 72 "fake T/A" as a high school senior and for a few years in college. not really well done, but from 20 feet, it looked great. I'm just toying with the idea of "someday" doing one much better. This '74 roller is so cheap I was thinking I could jump on it and just store it at my father-in-laws farm until I was ready to start the project in 5-10 years or so.

A car that is already 36 years old stored in a barn for another 5-10 years without sealing it in something to prevent further rusting and investation by rodents will not be much of a project car in the end. Seen too many situations like this. People store them away with the best of intentions and the environment and life catches up with them and the car. Think real carefully before jumping into this. If you really need to do the conversion you will have to find the parts now, you cannt wait another 5-10 years.

To answer your original question, yes you can fairly easily install the 70-73 nose (I'd look for a 70-72 as they weigh less as an assembly) You can find most of the parts on ebay or craigslist. The lower front valance, marker lights, and brackets will be the harder ($$) parts to gather.

As far as whether you should buy it and store it, or how much work it will be, well, if it was easy, everyone would do it. If you want the car but don't enjoy the building part, then buy one already completed. I have built a few cars, it takes time, money, and you have to enjoy learning new things. My best advice is buy the most rust-free, complete car you can find, even if it does not run. The small items add up fast and rust repair is not for the faint of heart (you can do it but you have to work at it).

Not trying to discourage you, but go in to it with you eyes open.

Where are you located?

Good luck, Rg
