fiero convertible? Will it need to be modified or what??
The convertable has some kind of short so we're replacing every wire front to back i bought another fiero and took the wiring harness out, I noticed the wire that tells a manual if its in neutral. If i dont plug it in will it still run fine in an automatic
It is a custom it was done in a body shop, However it has the origional iron duke 2.5L in it. So the convertable i guess doesnt make a big diffrence.

If the donor car was a manual and the convert is an auto, The harness may need to be modified. On manual cars the engine cannot start unless the clutch is pressed. On automatics the car won't start unless it's in park or neutral. The thing is the circuit is the same but the connector on the manual goes by the clutch pedal under the dash and the neutral safety switch on an auto is right next to the shift linkage on the transaxle in the engine compartment. You may need to either put a jumper where the clutch switch went to or run the 2 wires to the correct pins on the transaxle in back. If you do the jumper, The car will be able to be started no matter if it's in P R N D L2 or L1. Also note that this will affect the decklid switch if you have a power release. The decklid normally opens all the time in a manual and only in park/neutral on an auto. I am not sure of the harness wiring differences for the decklid so that may need to be checked/modified.
