Would a Pontiac Grand Am be a good investment?

I am looking to purchase a used car in the somewhat near future. I have always like the Pontiac Grand Am and I know I can buy it used because, well, they don't make it anymore! But I was wondering how safe is it? What is the average MPG? and since the Pontiac branch of GM has pretty much been dissolved, will I be able to buy parts easily if it ever needs them? (something my parents brought up)
