Ws6

I was wondering how would I know if my T/A was a ws6. Did they have them in 86, was there a special paint scheme for them or what else.

WS6 is a RPO code that you can find under the lid of your center console. It was a brake and handling package that wasn't an option on 3rd gens until 87. It consisted of 4-wheel disc brakes, bigger anti-sway bars, 16X8 wheels,stiffer springs and revalved shocks and struts. You could get the WS6 package on Formulas, T/As, and the GTA. In 91 they had a package that was even better, for stock sport car racing, called the 1LE option.

I was hopin mine would have been a Ws6, the only thing that my T/A has out of that list that I know of is 4-wheel disc brakes, I'm not sure of the rest of the suspension on mine. It has a badge on the dash that say's performance suspension, I don't know what it consists of though. Also does anyone know how good my Y-pipe exhaust would sound if I had the local exhaust shop just remove the muffler and replace it with regular pipe. I don't really have a clue what size my exhaust tubing is but I know its stock. I was thinking it was 3 inch for stock exhaust tubing on there but I'm not for sure.

My base firebird had the Performance Suspension,too. I can't think of the RPO code for that one but it is a step above the base suspension.As far as exhaust it is probably 2.25 inch. I would just put a cat back system on it. Your not going to get much out of the 305. Although some guys have, with alot done to them and alot of money. You have the TPI 305 right? You can do quite a bit to those and they will run pretty good but don't expect to run 13's unless you do alot to it. I would just do smart mods to it and keep the good street manners and gas mileage. You know, exhaust, better intake track, bump the fuel pressure,etc.

I've got the TPI 305. I kind of want a cheap way to get the exhaust to sound good and be loud. I didn't know if just removing the muffler and replacing it with regular pipe would sound any good. As far as mods I was going to do cold air intake, horsepower chip, and a bigger MAF sensor. It's not easy finding performance parts for this year. Is it possible that mine is a Ws6 though.

Do you still have the options list sticker under your center console lid? That will tell you if you have WS6.

As far as the exhaust being LOUD, you might find it cool at first but it will get very obnoxious after awhile. You are not going to find any more horseys running an exhaust without the muff.

I will tell you what; go to www.thirdgen.org and I am sure they will tell you what to do with your engine, and exhaust for that matter.

Ok thanks, I'll check my console lid to see if the sticker is still there, I've already taken it off once and I don't remember if the sticker was on there or not.
