Is there anyone out there got an extra lying around. Trying to wrap up this motor in time for my sons b'day. I have searched everywhere I know, with no luck.

Thanks

Napa cannt order one for you, or order it yourself on line?

Thnks guys, still having no luck....Roadrunner, that site shows having them but when I called they said "nope". Talked to a guy and he said the 99's would work w/ no problems. Thing is, I am into this motor for a little more than I would like at this point. Does anyone know where I can get a set w/ rings for a really good price. Like under the 200.00 mark

for your piston you could try a used or go here http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/ which are a group who are well versed in the mortor and they have ALOT of spare parts..they mainly deal in the 2.3 quad 4/2.4 twin cam motors

One sight I went to said they would work with no problem? I am getting mixed reviews.... Do you know it wont work? Not questioning your knowledge, I just want to make sure before I sink a couple hundred for them.

I registered on the quad 4 forums, but I cant post anything til they permit me to?!?!

It deff won't work well..now if you bought all for dish type then yes it will...if you have 3 flat and 1 dish..you will mess up the size of that cylinder..all together "all 4 cylinders" are 148 cubic inch with flat tops then you divide that by 4, for each piston wich will have a even number for all 4..if you put a dish you will be adding to that divided number in that one cylinder, say by half a cubic inch messing up the displesment and balance of the motor..so if you want to by all 4 dish type, then no problem..but when you post on quad4forums you might beable to get a used flat top..

Yes, I was going to fully replace with only 1 type. What is the drawback to the dish? A few horses?

ah..you said a extra which I thought was just one...the dish type won't have no difference..I don't evan understand why they changed it.I have dish type and prefer it..so if you want to change all 4 I don't see a problem with that..but I would still talk to the guys on quad4forums since they will have better specs about them

I forgot to say, but if you want to get the dish type just look up my ride 1998 grand am 2.4..the dish type are all over the place

Thanks rr, I was misleading with some of my info. I was originally going to replace oonly 1 piston with the flat-top. Since I have failed to locate one, I am going for a total replace. I appreciate all your direction and will update you with an outcome....hopefully a successful one!

1 last tip..when you put the car back together you will have two gaskets that go between the timing chain housing the the cams themselfs..one side has a orange strip of rubber and the other won't..both are exactly the same, but they don't go on the same way..make sure you place them up against the timing housing to see what side overs the 5 holes on each side..4 of the holes are where you feed the bolts through the housing into the cam housing the other 1 "the 5th" is where you put a bolt to alighn the timing chain..so make sure all 5 holes are covered by the gaskets..If not your car will chatch a case of the clap "oil leak"..lol

The car is running, pretty good. Still have a couple issues (electrical I think) but the dished pistons seem to be great!
