Hey there I just bought a 2007 Torrent. Everytime I use the key to get into the car the horn goes off. How do I stop this permanently? It stops when I start the car but I'm sure my neighbors are going to kill me if they hear this late at night when I leave for work. Any help in how to reprogram or turn off this function I'd appreciate.

thats the anti theft system are you using the key fob to unlock the doors?

With a key I'm trying to open the door but the horn keeps going off. With the transmitter/fob I am able to unlock without the horn going off. I may not always have the FOB with me so I want to stop the honking when using a regular key. Thank you for the the reply.

Great I will look into that. I've just never had a car that when I put a key in the lock the horn blasts LOL very annoying. Thank you

why isnt the key attached to the FOB?

I have one fob but several copies of keys. I won't always have the fob in my hand that's why I posted this thread so I can stop the honking if I don't have a fob

Did you read the section in the owners manual concerning the theft system? The vehicle came from the factory with 2 keys and 2 fobs to enable and disable the anti-theft system.

curious if you ever figured this out.
I have two friends with these vehicles and each of them have bad remotes therefore they have to use the key to unlock the door.

Then they have to put the key into the ignition to make it stop.

When having an operational remote Is not possible, is there a way to disable that feature? I have read both of their manuals as well as others that have been posted.

Thanks in advance

Why dont they replace the defective remotes?

Did you ever get an answer that worked?

Did you read the thread which indicates the vehicle was equipped with working key fobs to enable and disable the system plus it refers you to read the section in the owners manual.

Unlock the door with the fob

If one still needs an answer. If you lock it with a fob, you need to use a fob to unlock it, to avoid the alarm, using the key will set it off. If you lock it with the key, you can use the key or the fob to unlock it without an alarm.

Sorry even if you lock it manually if you don't get in to your car and start it the alarm will go off. If you've lost your fob or it doesn't work properly and you unlock your door with your key you need to get that key into your ignition and start it. It will beep until you do and if you don't do it pretty fast it will set of the alarm. I bought my Torrent used without a fob and the previous owner warned me about it. I've just recently found out on older models you can search for key fobs online and you can give them your info and you can buy a set of them or 2 keys with 2 fobs. The best price I've found was on ebay and you should check it out if you need one. You'll have to give him your info on your title to have key cut properly but it's much cheaper than having it done at a dealer. Hope that helps.
