I am having the Sprint motor overhauled on my '67 LeMans. The block is from a '68 250, but the PO retained the '67 230 head. The machine shop was concerned about the higher compression this combination would create. My mechanic said he would use a thicker gasket. I hope that works. The bore size remained the same and I've attached a pic of the box for the new pistons. Is this the correct size for a 250 SPRINT?Sprint Piston.JPG

The dimensions will be the same for a Chevy vs Pontiac 250 for 68-69, but the pistons themselves will not interchange, the confusion comes from the fact that in 1970 and later all Pontiac inline 6 engines where Chevy inline 6's. And even the 66-69 engines are the same displacement between Chevy and Pontiac, so most parts suppliers assume they are the same engines.

And as a result they miss apply the parts compatibility in 66-69.

Did you visually compare the old pistons with the new?

I will tell the mechanic to ask the Machine shop if they did that. If they didn't, I will tell them to mike both.
I think those are Chevrolet 250 pistons. The Silv-O-Lite catalog is wrong.
