I have a 99 Grand Am with the 2.4L motor. I have run into an issue which has both myself, several parts stores, and a dealership confused. I am trying to get a new fuel filter for the car, i bought it app 1 year ago and am doing a tune up on it.
The problem comes down to the filter that they all show for the car and what is physically present. The filter coming up for the car at all the shops has a plastic clip on one end and the threaded outlet on the other. The filter physically on the car has the threaded outlet, but the inlet side has a compression ring connection(similar to what is on a a/c line), not the plastic clips. I took photos of the installed filter with me and even though their systems show them one filter they all agree the inlet connection is a different connection.
Every parts place, including the dealership, cross referenced the part number on the filter, and the part number matchs what they have but does not physically match the filter. Does anyone know if there was some kind of change on the filter or if it might have been discontinued, or what. i'm going nuts here trying to find out what is going on with it so i can change the filter out, any help would be greatly appreciated.
