I have a 99 Grand Am with the 2.4L motor. I have run into an issue which has both myself, several parts stores, and a dealership confused. I am trying to get a new fuel filter for the car, i bought it app 1 year ago and am doing a tune up on it.

The problem comes down to the filter that they all show for the car and what is physically present. The filter coming up for the car at all the shops has a plastic clip on one end and the threaded outlet on the other. The filter physically on the car has the threaded outlet, but the inlet side has a compression ring connection(similar to what is on a a/c line), not the plastic clips. I took photos of the installed filter with me and even though their systems show them one filter they all agree the inlet connection is a different connection.

Every parts place, including the dealership, cross referenced the part number on the filter, and the part number matchs what they have but does not physically match the filter. Does anyone know if there was some kind of change on the filter or if it might have been discontinued, or what. i'm going nuts here trying to find out what is going on with it so i can change the filter out, any help would be greatly appreciated.

the person/people who owned it be for you broke the quick release where the "compression ring connectio" is..other words someone broke it and replaced it with what ever the auto parts store had and used whichever filter that would fit it..not all part numbers come up the same at other auto parts stores or the dealership most of the time..sooo..you could cut the "compression ring connection" off..and splice the proper fitting in..

what is the brand of the filter and the part number?

what is the brand of the filter and the part number?

What is on it is an ac delco gf627, that is the number printed on the side of the filter, crosses to a fram g7315, and i dont remember what the dealer ship crossed it to.

Here are the pics i took 2 showing the connection actually on the car and the other showing the filter that every parts store/dealership has shown me

Here are links to pics of the connection on my car and the inlet connection on the new filter(which matchs every filter the parts stores/dealerships have shown me)

let me know if you have any ideas

here are pics of the filter that is on the car and the one the parts stores and the dealership have brought as the correct filter

as you can see the connections seem completely different

dude! lol...you take the plastic tip off from the new filter..then you use a quick release tool to take the old 1 off..with the clip off the new filter you push in into the the hose in the picture untill you hear a click..u want to push in and out to make sure its in good..in other words everything is how it should be..just pull the clear clip off and your good

I just swapped a fuel tank so this is maybe what happened? At some pont someone swapped the tank and and replaced the line from the sending unit so it doesn't have the factory end on it.
