my goal with the rebuild is 100hp/L naturaly aspirated. from what i have gathered i will definately need a bottem end rebuild as well as valvetrain upgrades, including port and polish. i already have a header and catback. should upgrade my fuel capabilities with injectors and fuel pump. the ecu should be fine. the one question i have is what compression ratio could i go with and be a reliable daily driver?

what engine do you have? if 2.2 i would suggest an engine swap. if 2.4 i would say lowest compression possible and a supercharger but you wrote n/a right? well just make sure everything is done correctly, take your time and don't cut corners. also if you have an ecotec you can get more power than that and still be relativley reliable.......btw in case you dont know and you probably do try j-body.org those guys can give you actual specs. let us know how this project turns out :D

I have the 2.4L. i also belong to the org. just trying other places to get more info on the compression ratio i should use. i will probably go with 11:1 and run premium gas. not sure how well the car will run at that high of compression. looking for info.

Does anyone have details on the Ecotec? I hate the name, sounds like some treehugger wimp motor. But I would like to learn more about it, some have run pretty good.
