Hello there,

Experiencing a single 'knock' sound from the rear left/driver side wheel while driving.

It happens on tighter left turns at low speed, and sometimes when pulling off/coming to a stop. Rarely, I will also hear it while changing gear, when downshifting.

Giving the rear driver side wheel itself a shake while parked up produces a bit of a clunking noise too.

I'm sure I'll have to get my head under there, but can anyone give me a few pointers as to what the culprit could be, and where they are on the car? I'm not too familiar with the suspension set up yet, which bushes wear etc.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

It could be alot of things, but I would
(1) check the exhaust system to see if it is loose and contacting any part of the suspension or chassis.
(2) Then look at the rear sway bar links & bushings
(3) Lower control arm bushings & the Torque arm bushing
(4) it could even be a loose shock

Good luck and please tell us what you find.

Brilliant, thanks Jeff. I'll have a look as soon as I get time. I have recently replaced both rear shocks so could well be a slightly loosened bolt.

I'll update when I've checked it over.

Took me nearly a year but I got round to going over it again! Turns out that the ARB links are shot, particularly at the rear, and also the control arm bushes are well overdue for replacement.

Additionally, the previous owner cut off the muffler and had the pipes welded - the tail pipe has been knocking against the fuel tank...

All going to be sorted - thank you for your help once again.
