Me again! hello.

This week I've changed both right and left front caliper on my old Ventura. I don't think that's related but when I stop at a red light sometimes (70%) when the wait is long the transmission seems to pass from Neutral to Drive. I can feel it in the brakes and by listening to the idle speed. (the shifter doesn't move)

I don't know if it's normal or not with an old car like that or if it's a transmission problem.

Any advice?

Thank you

I don't Quite understand the issue you are having? When Stopped do you manually put the trans in Neutral? Or do you have to apply more brake pressure after you are stopped for some time?

If it is the second condition you may want to replace your front brake flexible lines with some steel braided ones. Old Stock flexible brake lines can "swell" under pressure, and cause the brake pedal to move down, and cause you to have to apply more pressure to keep the car stopped. I have had to do this to a couple of older Pontiac's

If that is not the condition you are having, try to explain the actual issue in detail. Some times it is hard to troubleshoot online.

HI. One more time excuse my bad english.

Brake lines and caliper are new.
When Stopped I do not put the trans in Neutral and I don't have to apply more brake pressure. I just wait applying the brakes and on D.

But after a few seconds it's like I don't need to apply brakes (just like in Neutral), the idle go faster just like on Neutral then after 2 or 3 seconds its like the transmission shift back to D, the idle slow down and I have to apply brakes again but I didn't touch anything.

I don't know if I am understandable

* I think that I have a light transmission fluid leak

Either your fluid level is low or your front pump or torque convertor is going bad.

Check your fluid level and color first ( should be bright red , not orange or brown)

Might something simple as you being down a quart or so.

Hi doug. Level is a little low, this thing stinks like burnt metal and the red is not so bright.

I am going to change that this weekend.

That car keeps me awake :-)

Good idea doug. I have this car for only a month and I think I am gonna have a lot of questions. They will probably ask me to open my own forum :).... or tell me to use a french one

Dont feel bad , down here in Puerto Rico everything is in Spanish and I cant speak it or read it either............. but I get by ;)

You are doing fine with your english....... I use Bing Translater alot myself when I dont understand words.

Thanks! Right now I am going crazy with my other thread and my intake casting number that I believe comes from out of space

Definatly sounds like it is Slipping, Hopefully a fluid and filter change will cure the issue, Fingers crossed for you!

Well I finally read what's on the dipstick. Check level with hot engine and idle etc.... w

Way too low. I add some today and everything is OK. I have to change a seal so I will change the filter, the pan and everything else at the same time

Great, when weather allows or you have a warm garage to use. ( as per your other post on the engine)

I hear you on the weather, I'm from Western + Central New York , originally.

Thought I could leave the cold behind ( after 40 years) and move to Arizona, well could only stand the oven heat for 12 years and had enough of it ,so now I'm here in the Tropics ! ;)
