Automatic Transmission TH350 from N to D by itself?

I don&#039;t think that&#039;s related but when I stop at a red light sometimes (70%) when the wait is long the transmission seems to pass from Neutral to Drive. I can feel it in the brakes and by listening to the idle speed. (the shifter doesn&#039;t move)<br /> <br /> I don&#039;t know if it&#039;s normal or not with an old car like that or if it&#039;s a transmission problem.<br /> <br /> Any advice?<br /> <br /> Thank you</div>
 
<div class="bbWrapper">I don&#039;t Quite understand the issue you are having? When Stopped do you manually put the trans in Neutral? Or do you have to apply more brake pressure after you are stopped for some time?<br /> <br /> If it is the second condition you may want to replace your front brake flexible lines with some steel braided ones. Old Stock flexible brake lines can &quot;swell&quot; under pressure, and cause the brake pedal to move down, and cause you to have to apply more pressure to keep the car stopped. I have had to do this to a couple of older Pontiac&#039;s<br /> <br /> If that is not the condition you are having, try to explain the actual issue in detail. Some times it is hard to troubleshoot online.</div>

One more time excuse my bad english.<br /> <br /> Brake lines and caliper are new. <br /> When Stopped I do not put the trans in Neutral and I don&#039;t have to apply more brake pressure. I just wait applying the brakes and on D.<br /> <br /> But after a few seconds it&#039;s like I don&#039;t need to apply brakes (just like in Neutral), the idle go faster just like on Neutral then after 2 or 3 seconds its like the transmission shift back to D, the idle slow down and I have to apply brakes again but I didn&#039;t touch anything.<br /> <br /> I don&#039;t know if I am understandable<br /> <br /> * I think that I have a light transmission fluid leak</div>

<div class="bbWrapper">Well I finally read what&#039;s on the dipstick. Check level with hot engine and idle etc.... w<br /> <br /> Way too low. I add some today and everything is OK. I have to change a seal so I will change the filter, the pan and everything else at the same time</div>
