Going by the casting date code E108, E=May, 10=10th day of the month, 8= either 1968 or 1778. The fact that the head is not a 6X head leads me to believe the head was cast in May of 1968. The head codes for 1968 only have 1 head type listed with a 7 as the second digit, so I think the head should read 17, that would be a 1968 350 2bbl head, pressed in studs, small valve (1.96" intake, 1.66 exhaust) with a stock compression ratio of 9.2 to 1.
But without bore and stroke numbers it is impossible to tell what compression ration you actually have. A compression test reading would help. I would not want to up the compression ratio much above the 9.2 the stock engine would have. As today's Gas does not like higher compression ratio's with cast iron heads. Just opinion.
